What in the world happened?  We turn on the news each day only to find that another tragedy has occurred somewhere in the world.  Mass shootings, race riots, terrorist attacks have become commonplace.  Confusion, doubt and fear seem to be a part of our everyday existence.  In the face of all of this, it is easy to lose heart.  We may think that things are out of control, and we may wonder what we are supposed to do as believers in the middle of all of the chaos.

It is important to remember that we are not the first group of God’s people to live in a tumultuous time.  The ancient church faced such persecution and confusion that some of them were ready to lose heart, give up, and even walk away from their faith.  God had perfect instructions for them…and for us.  In Hebrews 12, God gave His people a picture of how to live in a world of hate and fear.  He encouraged them not to lose heart, but to keep pressing on and focusing on Jesus.

We have choices as we live in the chaos.  We can lose heart, throw up our hands, and give up, we can rely on the shallow answers of politicians and political parties, or we can trust God’s Word and listen to His instructions.  Today, let’s press into God’s Word and find out how to live in the middle of the chaos.
