Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing the in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Our responsibility to make disciples extends far beyond the comfort of our own home or our own community or nation. Each believer is given the task of making disciples of all the nations or people groups in the world. Did you know that you were called to that just as you were called to make disciples in your own family or local community?  Did you know that God has called you to impact the entire world? Sometimes we think or say that God has called us to focus on either local missions or international missions, but the truth is that we are called to BOTH.  We can choose to GO to other nations and make disciples.  We can choose to adopt and pray for specific people groups that desperately need a gospel witness.  We can support and adopt missionaries that God has called to live and work among these people groups.  We can give financially to support them, and we can give liberally to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering in a few months.

Jace, Titus, and Micaiah in Leticia, Colombia

What a joy it has been to partner with Jeff and Erin Gautney over the last few years in Leticia, Colombia, as we try to be obedient to these commands.  As a church, we’ve traveled to Colombia and had direct contact with people groups that need the gospel in all of its power.  We are developing a heart for these special people.  We’ve partnered with Jeff and Erin to support them in prayer and encouragement.  Gateway Baptist Church is helping to make disciples of all the nations in this way!

Jeff and Erin will be with us next week, July 28, as they are on furlough.  We will give them a love offering that day to help in their work.  Thank you to those that have given.  If you would still like to give above and beyond your regular giving to bless them and participate in making disciples of all the nations, you may contact the church office at 901-837-8087.  Please begin to pray about GOING to Colombia as the Lord leads us in the future.  Don’t miss next week!

They’ll be leading both services with a special children’s time during the Sunday School hour.  A reception and a Q&A time with the Gautney family will be held at 5pm.
