Connected, My Life in the Church: Growing Up

They joined the church two years ago.

They came to the worship services almost every week for a long time. They even attended on Wednesday night a few times. Now, no one seems to know where they went.

How could someone be so active in church and totally drop out? What happened?

While there are many possibilities, it is most likely that they never put themselves in an environment to progress in their faith. This scenario plays itself out over and over again in the church. We look at our roll sheets and wonder what happened to people.

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that God isn’t finished with us when we become believers. We are to grow up. Over the next two weeks, we will be looking at the process of “Growing up” in our faith.

“…’til we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect (mature) man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him. . . .” Ephesians 4:13-15
