G4 2017 – Gather

How can a person be certain that they are doing the things necessary to grow spiritually?

So many believers stay frustrated at the pace and quality of their spiritual growth.  Why can’t I seem to be consistent in my attitudes?  Why do I keep falling into the same sins and struggles?  Why can’t I seem to get “over the hump” in my spiritual growth?

People that grow in their faith and make a real difference with their lives have made some choices to be obedient in some critical areas. They have surrendered to a process in their lives that yields fruit and joy and spiritual growth.  At Gateway, we have chosen to name this process G4 to help us remember the critical things:  We GATHER in worship.  We GROW in small group environments.  We GIVE in ministry.  We GO on mission.

Have you ever watched a basketball game come down to the last shot?  Sometimes a shot is made to seemingly win the game, but it actually took place after the buzzer sounded.  The crowd and the players celebrate as if they had won at the last minute, but instant replay shows that the shot didn’t really count.  As we look at GATHERING in WORSHIP today, we will learn that there is a type of worship that doesn’t really count.   It may seem like all is well, but the heart is the key.  Worship is the foundation and the starting point for true spiritual growth.  How well are we worshipping?

Is our foundation for spiritual growth solid and strong?
