Without A Doubt (4)

Have you ever noticed that children usually look like and sometimes act like their parents? You hear things like, “Like father, like son” or “She’s just like her mother.” If it’s a physical resemblance, you might hear, “He is the spitting image of his dad” or “He’s got his mom’s nose or mouth. . . .” We acknowledge family resemblance or birthmarks that give evidence to whom we belong, right? These are traits or things about us that we cannot deny!

The Apostle John wrote the book of I John to make sure that we KNEW That we belonged to our Heavenly Father. It is full of evidences of our salvation and membership in the Family of God. John wants us to know that we belong to our Father. At the close of the book, John gives us almost a summary of what He has been teaching. In chapter 5, we have six evidences or birthmarks that a person is a child of God. John wrote these words so that we might have confidence and assurance as we look for them in our own lives. Our prayer is that through the Scripture today we would experience the confidence and joy in our salvation that God desires for His children.
