Who are you?

It seems like a simple question, and yet thousands of books have been written trying to answer that one foundational question. People spend their whole lives searching for an answer to their own identity and purpose in this world.

In the first chapter of John, John the Baptist is asked this very question by a group of religious leaders. In the midst of exploding popularity, huge crowds, and a vibrant preaching ministry, John does not hesitate with his answer. His humble response leaves us with not just and answer about who John is. . .but who Jesus is!

Today, we will learn that one of the reasons that John the Baptist was great, was because John never considered himself great. His humility and understanding of who he really was is a great encouragement to us as we seek to point the world to Jesus. By following John’s example, we learn that life is not a story about us, but a story about Jesus. It’s only by the grace and mercy of God that we are allowed to be a part of it!
