After the great preacher Jonathan Edwards finished a stirring sermon on the wrath and judgment of God, one of the members in the audience stood up and asked: “But Mr. Edwards…is there no mercy with God?” Edwards quickly reminded the man that he would have to wait until next week to hear that sermon. That is similar to where we are here in Romans 2. To understand the good news, we must hear the bad news. The passage here in Romans 2:1-6, 16 deals with God’s judgement of how we live our lives and what we do with Jesus.
