There are over 2300 verses in the Bible that have to do with money.

Jesus spent over fifteen percent of His recorded words talking about the way we view money and how we handle our possessions. He talked about money more than any other topic including prayer, worship, heaven or hell. Why all of the emphasis on money and possessions? Jesus knew that how a person handles money in a good gauge of your spiritual life. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” In other words, how we handle money and the emphasis we place on it, reveals our true heart.

In the middle of our crazy lives, money can cause great stress.

In fact, eighty percent of marriages that break up,  list money issues as a primary reason for divorce. Too many arguments and family breakdowns can be traced back to the handling of our money. It is imperative that we get the proper perspective on money and possessions, so that financial issues don’t rob us of our peace and put us on the road to ruin. There’s nothing wrong with owning stuff, as long as that stuff doesn’t own us!

In this week’s message, we will seek to find our joy in pursuing God and eternal treasure rather than the passing riches of this world!
