Not So Complicated – II

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No not jut for some but for everyone.

You might have heard this 1965 song written b y Hal David and performed by multiple artists. It expresses a truth that Jesus made very clear a long time ago. When Jesus was asked about the most important thing in life. . .His answer was love.

In fact, in Matthew 22:37-40, He told us that the “big rocks” of our lives were to love God and to love others. He was not referring to the same kind of 60’s “love” expressed in that song! He was referring to a love for God alone that includes every part of us, and a love for others that is forgiving serving, and sacrificing. In other words a love that is like His love for us! In a world where true love is hard to come by, Jesus calls on us as His followers to love others, even when it is difficult.

In this week’s message, we looked a the second part of Jesus response to this important question:

“What is the most important commandment. . . the most important thing in my life?”

Truly the answer is love, and it is exactly what the world needs now.
