The book of Acts tells us that after Jesus’ resurrection, He gathered His disciples together for one last set of instructions. After calling them to be His witnesses to all the earth, He ascended back to Heaven. The angels that were there that day told the disciples that Jesus would return one day just as He had ascended.

In the days and years to come, Jesus’ followers would find hope in the promise of His second coming. Many of them would be persecuted or martyred because of their faith in Jesus, and His promise to come again gave them hope in the darkest of times.

Do we live our lives today in light of the second coming of Jesus Christ? Are we finding hope in the belief that one day Jesus will come and set all things right? When the hard days come, we can look toward His coming and find the hope that one day we will be with Him forever.
