“Falling in love is easy. Staying in love requires a plan.”
In a world where long term marriages seem to be the exception, what are the keys to staying together over the long haul? What are the foundational pieces of a long happy marriage? Is it really possible to live and love for a lifetime?
Sunday, we concluded our series Broken Home. We’ve learned from the Bible that our deepest needs can never be met by our spouses, but only by Jesus. we’ve fired our spouses from that responsibility, while learning to come to God for fullness! In addition, we’ve embraced God’s design for marriage as a covenant, while rejecting culture’s skewed view of marriage a s a contract that can be voided at anytime. We’ve studied the Bible’s instructions for both husbands and wives and found that they work together for harmony, and mirror Jesus’ relationship to the church. We’ve found forgiveness and grace for our failures and hope for the future.
As we concluded this series, we looked at some of the foundational commitments and attitudes that can help usstay together for a lifetime. After a lifetime together an with God’s grace and help, maybe we can still sing the old song, Still the One.
