Have you ever wronged someone and as a result, your relationship with that person was compromised?
In the book of Philemon, Onesimus, a runaway slave, stole from Philemon, his master. However, God, in His sovereignty, ordained that Onesimus would run into Paul, a prisoner in chains in Rome. Paul led Onesimus to the Lord and then wrote this letter to appeal to Philemon. Paul called Philemon to accept Onesimus back, not just as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother in Christ. This letter from Paul, the prisoner, to Philemon, the master, about Onesimus, the slave, is a story of forgiveness and the changes that the gospel has in the a believer’s life.
The gospel changes everything.
