Imagine the best meal you’ve ever eaten.  Maybe it was a juicy steak, or a delicious hamburger.  For others, maybe it was a seafood feast or an amazing pasta dish! For others, it’s all about the barbecue or ribs! Meals can be memorable for many reasons.  Usually a meal is memorable for more than just the great food.  The atmosphere makes a difference.  Can you imagine eating your beautiful steak at Subway with all the distractions and smells?  That just doesn’t sound very appetizing.  Your attitude also makes a difference.  If you’ve had a terrible day or you are angry with someone, you are far less likely to enjoy your meal.  Not only that, but who you eat with makes a big difference.  Eating a great meal is far less memorable if you eat it all by yourself.  Eating with friends and family, however, can create memories that last a lifetime.  We love to get together around  the table with people that we love and celebrate any occasion.

Today, we are going to remember a very significant meal.  We are going to celebrate an amazing event.  It was Jesus’ final meal with His disciples.  It’s a meal that Jesus asked us to think about and participate in until He returns.  The atmosphere is important, so we need to be focused and not distracted by the things around us. Our attitudes are critical, so we need to seek a humble heart before God and peace toward those in our lives.  Finally, we get to eat this meal with the greatest people on the face of the earth.  It just might be the most memorable “meal” you’ve ever eaten!

1 Corinthians 11:23-36 (NKJV)   For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also toook the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood.  This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
