Take a trip to the Christian book store and you will see literally hundreds of books on the subject of the return of Jesus Christ. Some of them describe the chaos of the end times and warn us of the coming doom and gloom. Most of them attempt to see in the current world situations signs that the end is near and that Jesus’ return is imminent. People for centuries have been fascinated by the book of Revelation and he sequence of events leading up to Christ’s return. Movie and books like “Left Behind” paint pictures of what it might be like at the end of time. In fact, it is easy to get preoccupied or even obsessed with the subject.

Even in the Apostle Paul’s day, the subject of Christ’s return was in the forefront. The believers in Thessalonica were confused and unsure about the events of the second coming. In fact, there were false teachers that were misleading the people. In the midst of this confusion, Paul gives solid advice to the church. He simply encouraged them not to worry about what is ahead. He assured them that they had not missed His coming, and that there were some things that still had to happen before Christ would return. This is good advice for us as well. We don’t have all the details, but we do know how the story ends! Don’t obsess over the details of His coming, instead be ready as His coming gets closer every single day!
