We look forward to partnering
with the Sidhom Family.
September 22 – October 1
Cost: (early estimate) $1200/per person
We will be partnering with Gateway members and North American Mission Board missionaries, Ryan and Clarissa Sidhom in reaching one of the spiritually darkest places in our own nation. Contrary to the joy expressed in this picture, the people are overwhelmed with an emptiness that has left them unfulfilled. The suicide rate is alarmingly high in this area and is considered a church planting graveyard due to a variety of obstacles in reaching them. Please join us as we break ground in ministry here this fall.
Ryan and Clarissa, along with son Banner, have been recently appointed as North American Mission Board (NAMB) missionaries in Portland, Oregon. Ryan is currently working on his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Urban Missions. They are native Memphians called by the LORD to be light in a very dark part of our own nation.
Time Magazine recently named Portland the least religious city in the entire country. This highly postmodern atmosphere has high depression, suicide, and sex trafficking rates (especially children), and the most strip clubs per capita. Portland has also been named the “unhappiest” city in the USA. There are less than 100 Southern Baptist churches for 2.6 million Portlanders – that’s 1 church for every 28,000 people. This is why they are going and why we are partnering with them!
