King David was one of the wealthiest and most powerful kings in the history of Israel. In fact, David was so grateful to God for all his blessings, that he wanted to do something for God with his great wealth. In the midst of all of this, God would teach David an important lesson that we all need to learn:
“God doesn’t need our money, but He wants our hearts.”
By observing David, we can learn some important principles when it comes to giving and what it means to be ALL IN with our possessions. Today, we’ll see how David went ALL IN with the mission of God.
Money can quickly replace God in our hearts if we are not watchful of the way we use it. It can steal away our heart from God and become the thing that we hope in.
“Command those who are rich in this present age, not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the Living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they may be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come. . . .”
I Timothy 6:17-19
God invites us to give, not because He needs our money, but so that we can go to war against the idolatry that corrupts our hearts.
